The Public Works Department has intimated to tenderers for Departmental contracts that in future it will not allow “tags” to be added to tenders, making the provision that the tenders are subject to adjustment, in the light of amendments to the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act. In recent months, it has become customary for such proviso to be added to tenders, and some of those received by the Public Works Department for the erection of the Styx railway over-bridge > were ‘‘tagged” in this way. None of C.j tenders for this work has been accepted, and the contract is to be re-advertised with the instruction that no “tags” are to bo attached to tenders. —Press Assn.
