SUTCLIFFE DISGUISED
A BIG MOUSTACHE. LONDON. May 1-1. Disguised by a big black bushy moustache, a batsman in a cricket match at Jamaica hit each of the first nine balls for six. This exertion under a tropical sun caused perspiration to run down his Lace—and with it came the big, black," bushy moustache!
Herbert Sutcliffe (Yorkshire), the famous England opening batsman, was unmasked to an astonished fielding side.
Ths incident happened about two months ago, and is revealed by the War Office., Tne Ist Battalion the Sherwood Foresters were holding a garrison trial match, officers opposing a team of warrant officers and sergeants. Sutcliffe was borrowed from the Yorkshire touring side for the day by the warrant officers and sergeants. Some of the officers may h&ve objected, but those of the Sherwood Foresters could say very little, since on of their mottoes is “Once a Forester, always a Forester.” And Herbert Sutcliffe served in the Sheywood Foresters during the war.
