SOCCER. AUCKLAND, June 17. The first Australian Soccer team to visit the Dominion for 13 years, arrived by the Wanganella, to-day, and, was given a civic reception by the Deputy-Mayor (Hon. AV. Lee Martin). The team consists of 15 players, drawn from all States except Tasmania, and is under the management of Mr. G. A. Storey. It will play three Tests, for the Soccer “ashes,” at present held by Australia, which were brought across the Tasman by the team, in an elaborate casket. The first match will be played at Auckland on Saturday, against the local representatives. The tests will be played in Dunedin, Wellington, and Auckland.
