REEFTON NOTES
[our own correspondent,] REEFTON, June 17. Miss Alma Hindmarsh, who suffered severe injuries at the Reefton School’s excursion at Hokitika in February last, and who has been a patient at the Westland Hospital since, returned to Reefton during the week-end. She is making a good recovery.
Mr. J. Dellaca, of the staff of the Bank of New Zealand, Reetion, who has been transferred to the Ashburton Branch, left for his new office yesterday. On Monday evening, he was entertained at a social gathering in the Band Room. Dancing was enjoyed, the music being supplied by Mrs. Eklund and Mr. Don. Supper was served by the ladies. Various sporting bodies attended the function. Mr. C. Coxall, on behalf of the Reefton Amateur Swimming Club in handing Mr. Dellaca a gift on behalf of the Club, referred to the 16ss that was being sustained by all sporting organisations in the district, and swimming in particular, by the removal of their guest. He congratulated Mr. Dellaca in his promotion and wished him success. Mr. J. Crossman, on behalf of the Reefton District High School Pupils’ Association, and Mr. W. Pennington for the Reefton Tennis Club also spoke, and handed gifts to Mr. Dellaca. Both speakers made complimentary reference to the guest’s work. Mr. Dellaca thanked the speakers for their sentiments and their gifts. Mr. Dellaca was also entertained at a smoke concert by the football clubs of the district, and was presented with an attache case from the Waratah Club. Several speakers referred to Mr. Dellaca’s good work. Mr. Dellaca thanked speakers for the good wishes expressed.
