BLACKBALL NOTES

[OUB OWN CORRESPONDENT.] The meeting of the Blackball Women’s Institute was presided over by Mrs J. Hutchinson. There was a good attendance. Mrs J. Hutchinson was appointed as delegate to attend the i -.inference to be held, in Dunedin. Competition for word-building was won by Mrs Chilton. The roll call “Uses for Epsom Salts,” brought useful hints. The competition for the best plate of pikelets resulted: Mrs James 1, Mrs Sneddon 2, Mrs Rarity 3. The hostesses for the evening were Mesdames Sneddon, Henderson and Mason. The weekly card tournament was held in the Druids’ Hall last evening, the winners being Mrs Oliver and Mr D. Neilson. Mr VV. Ritchie returned, last evening from a visit to Christchurch. Mrs G. Carson left yesterday on a holiday visit to Napier.

Mrs R. Clark, Senr., has returned from a holiday visit to Christchurch. Mr W. Pendlebury, who has been a icsident of this town for some years past, has left for Christchurch, where he has secured a position.
