PLANE’S FORCED LANDING
MR W. M. HUGHES INJURED. [by CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT. I (Received June 12, 8 a.m.) BRISBANE, June 11. A private Monospar aeroplane, conveying Mr W. M. Hughes, the Federal Minister of Health, and another passenger from Sydney to Brisbane, today. had a forced landing at Beaudesert, forty-seven miles from Brisbane, owing to bad weather visibility. Mr Hughes’ collarbone was broken, and he received a severe shock. The pilot and the passenger were unhurt. The plane’s wing and the undercarriage were broken. Mr Hughes, a few weeks ago, was. injured in a car accident. LATER. The plane was piloted by J. McLachlan, who was flying blind for over an hour. On landing, the wing struck a fence. Mr Hughes is in hospital, but is thankful for his miraculous escape.
