WELLINGTON EISTEDDFOD
- THE FIRST RESULTS. [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, May 11. More than 3500 entries were received by the New Zealand National Eisteddfod for the second annual festival, which opened at Wellington on Saturday. ' In the dancing section alone, there are 1500 entries, some from distant parts of the Dominion. Included among the results are the following: — National Dance Jig, under 10: Edna Maye (Hawke’s Bay) 1, Joy Leney (Wellington) 2, Pamela Hunt (Ashburton) 3. Hidden Elocution: Girls under 12.— Josie Smith (Hawera) 1, Nona Wood (Roseneath) 2, Vcrena Fairweather (Hawera) 3. Hidden Elocution: Boys, 12 to 16.— Robin Holloway (Hawera) 1, Peter Sellers (Lyall Bay) 2, Alan Bruce (Lyall Bay) 3. National Dance, Highland! Fling, 13 to 16.—Billie Addis (Christchurch) 1, Hazel Neil (Christchurch) 2. Sean Triubhais. —Gracie Mackay (Wellington) 1, Hazel Neil (Christchurch) 2.
In English Folk Song, Miss Bertha Rawlinson (Dunedin) was highly commended.
