GUARDSMAN AND MOUSTACHE
I DISCHARGED FROM ARMY. HULL, March 24. Arthur Leslie Bursell, 20, of Hull, tho Guardsman who was court-mar-tialled after refusing to shave off his moustache, has been discharged from the Army and is back at home. He still has his moustache. His caso has already been mentioned in the House of Commons, and Bursell hopes that some M.P. will raise th'o matter again. Bui sell was in the Ist Battalion Coldstream Guards. He was confined to barracks 10 days for refusing to shave off the moustache and then sentenced to 28 days’ detention for disobedience.
Bursell’s Army papers state that he was discharged for misconduct. They add that he is a.good worker, but must control his temper.
“Other men in the regiment have moustaches,” he said to-day, “but an officer said he did not like mine. I had to grow it bigger or shave it off. “I let it grow for a week and they said it was no bigger and must come off. I refused.”
