BANK OF ENGLAND
THREE NEW DIRECTORS
LONDON, March 30,
Nominations were posted at the Bank of England yesterday of a new •deputy governor and three new directors.
As announced last November, Mr. Basil Gate Cattorns, formerly chief cashier and now a director, is to succeed Sir Ernest Musgrave Harvey, who is retiring after seven years as deputy governor. The three new directors are:
Mr. D. G. M. Bernard, a director of the Alliance Assurance, British and Chinese Corporation and other companies, and a member of the London committee of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank.
Mr. Laurence John Cadbury, managing director of Cadbury Brothers and British Cocoa and Chocolate Company. Mr. John Coldbrook Hanbury-Wil-liams, a director of Courtaulds and S.N.I.A. Viscosa.
The vacancies on the board have been caused by the retirement of Sir Ernest Harvey, by the death of Sir Basil Blackett last August, and by the retirement of Mr. R. J. Lydston Newman. The elections take place on April 1. The profits of the bank for the halfyear ended February 29, •announced yesterday, were £077,989, compared with £075,572 for the corresponding period of 1934-35.
