CHRYSANTHEMUMS

ST. JOHN’S SHOW

The annual Chrysanthemum Show of the St. John’s Horticultural Society is being held in St. John’s Hall, this afternoon. The entries are not large, especially in the cut flowers and chrysanthemum sections, the recent stormy weather having had an adverse effect on gardens. There is a large attendance, and tea-rooms and cake stalls are being conducted by members of the Society. The Judges were: Cut flowers and vegetables, Mr. R. G. Cooper; Domestic Section, Mr. P. Blanchfield, senr.; Decorative Section, Mrs. A. Wallis and Miss D. Broad. Special prizes were won as follow: Rose Bowl, for most points in chrysanthemum classes, Mrs. S. Tomlinson (Waiuta); Best Bloom in Show, Mrs. W. Harris (Waiuta); Trophy, most points in Decorative section, Mrs. G. Rear; Trophy most points in Domestic section, Mrs. M. Smith (Rutherglen); Trophy, most points in vegetable section, Mrs. G. Wilson. The awards were: —
