RANGATIRA ENQUIRY

CHIEF JUSTICE TO PRESIDE

WELLINGTON, March' 13.

The Chief' Justice will preside at the hearing in Wellington of the official enquiry into the striking of the inter-island express steamer, Rangatira, on the rocks off Sinclair Head, Cook Strait, on February 2. ’The Marine Department will be re•presented by the Solicitor-General, Mr. H. H. Cornish, K.C., assisted by Mr. N. A. Foden. Mr. P. B. Cooke, K.C., with Mr. E. K. Kircaldie, will appear for the master of the vessel, Captain W. D. Cameron. Although March 18, 19, and 20 have been suggested as tentative dates for the rehearing, it is said that a final decision has yet to be made. No Ministerial statement was available to-day, but the full personnel of the Court will be announced by the Minister of Marine, probably to-mor-row. -
