The New Zealand University team defeated the Combined Western Universities by 23 to 8, in a fast and open game at Hanazono. Stace, Wild, Gillies and Mauliffe scored. Tricklebank, whose kicking was a feature of the game, converted all, and kicked a penalty. The New Zealand team was superior in all departments, though it committed a number of infringements. The team was: Tricklebank, Watt, Wild), Grant, Lewis, Gillies, MauIffe, 'Laney, Burke, Wilson, Hudson, Simpers, Drake and Eade. The visitors are now spending a quiet time seeing the sights of Nara and Kyoto, before the final test next Sunday. The team is enjoying’ the quiet and beautiful surroundings of the old capital, after a heavy but delightful programme in Tokio. Members were pleased to receive the first home mail to-day.
