DROWNED IN SHEEP-DIP. ■ [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, February 11. The two-year-old son of Mr. Alt Brustad, of Waiau, was drowned in a sheep dip at his father’s home to-day. The child was with his father in the wool shed, and was unobserved for a few minutes. He was found ten minutes later in the sheep dip. Rcscuscltation measures failed to restore animation. A doctor was called immediately, but the child was dead. The child’s mother was well-known by her maiden name of Aroha Clifford. She died when the baby was born. MOTORIST KILLED. NEW PLYMOUTH, February 11. One man was killed and two others were seriously injured when their car careered out of control for 100 yards, finally to turn several somersaults on the Waihi road, Hawera, to-night. Charlie Arnold Haylock, railway fireman, single, aged 29, was killed. Those injured are George Webster, railway fireman, who has concussion, and injuries to back and arm; and Allan C. Sim, also a railway fireman, who has concussion, injuries to the back, and abrasions. Both the injured men are single. Late to-night neither was out of danger though Sim was recovering from the effects of concussion. Both had recovered consciousness. The car had just passed another vehicle when it skidded off the camber of the road, bumped over the raised crossing, and somersaulted into a telegraph pole. SERIOUS BURNS. WAIROA, February 11.

Roy Nicholson, aged about 34, single, met with a serious accident this afternoon at the Waikaremoana power scheme. He was found in an outstation badly burnt, apparently as the result ,of his coming in contact with a thirty 'thousand volt line. At present, it is unknown how the accident occurred. After receiving first aid, he was conveyed to Wairoa Hospital. His condition is serious. CROSSING COLLISION CHRISTCHURCH, February 12. Miraculously escaping serious injury when a milk van he was driving crashed into a train at a level crossing in Fendalton, this morning, ■/ A. Thain now lies in the hospital with nothing .worse than facial abrasions and shock. Signals were set and the crossingkeeper was in the centre of the road, with the stop-sign, when the van approached. The keeper frantically.signalled but the driver went on and hit the centre of the train. The van was completely wrecked. BODIES FOUND. WELLINGTON, February 12. The inquest into the death of Harry Rcllinson, 60, tailor’s cutter, whose Body was found in the harbour, resulted. in a verdict of death by drowning. The Coroner remarked that there was no evidence to show how the body entered the water. An inquest, to-day, failed to establish tha identity, or cause of death of a new-born female child, found on January 11, in a sack on The Terrace.
