(PRESS ASSN. —COPYBIGHT J LONDON, November 11. “The Times’s” Paris correspondent says,: At Marseilles strong protests have been made against the Government’s decision to suppress the Australian service of the Messageries Maritimes liners. A meeting of maritime organisations, attended by the Mayor of Marseilles, passed a resolution asking the Government to reconsider the decision. The speakers emphasised that the saving* expected was more apparent than real, as the layingup charges, unemployment relief, and the loss of special tonnage charges would account for nearly £lOO,OOO a year.
