BOXER FAILS TO APPEAR

SEQUEL TO A FALL. LONDON, October 7. Reggie Meen, former heavy-weight champion of Britain, did not appear when he was due to fight Chai lie Smith at Leicester last night. His place was taken bv Max Hodgetts. Meen was in bed suffering from concussion and loss of memory. He fell in the street in Covelit Garden on Saturday, and does not remember what happened to him afterwards. Moen yesterday afternoon was in Leu Bridge Road, E., when be asked a policeman for directions to aii address. The policeman, recognising liin., :-d him to the address, where l.e remained while friends in Leicester were informed! He returned to his home at Oadby, Leicestershire, in the evening in a car driven by Mr Jack Callaghan, the boxing promoter, and was immediately put to bed. “It is all so upsetting and horrible that 1 cannot recall things since I fell in London,” he said to his relatives.
