BADMINTON TOURNEY

FOR GUNN TROPHY. A badminton tournament for the Gunn trophy was conducted in St. John’s Hall last evening, between teams representing St. John’s Club (Greymouth) and the Hokitika "Badminton Club. The matches were drawn, six all, but Hokitika Won the trophy by the narrow margin of 157 points to 151 points. Supper was provided by the lady members of St. John’s Club. Results, St. John’s players being mentioned first in each instance, were: — Ladies’ Doubles: Miss C. Tennent and Miss N. Tennent 5, lost to Miss 0. Stapleton and Mrs Stevenson 15; Mesdames A. McDowall and J. Forbes 14, lost to Mesdames Butland and H. Perry 16; Mesdames 0. McLean and E. Hay 11, lost to Misses Anderson and Keller 15. Men’s Doubles: V. Stevens and N. Tennent 15, beat ' Stevenson and Stapleton 7; L. Anderson and E. Hay 16, beat Butland and McClusky 14; J. Forbes and’ C. Gunn 10, lost to Skelton and Weir 15. . Combined Doubles: Miss N. Tennent and V. Stevens 15, beat Mr and Mrs Stevenson 13; Mrs J. Forbes and N. Tennent 7, lost to Mr and Mrs Stapleton 15; Mrs McDowall and L. Anderson 7, lost to Mr and Mrs Butland 15; Mrs 0. McLean and E. Hay 15, beat Mrs Perry and McClusky 7; Miss C. Tennent and J. Forbes 11, lost to Miss Anderson and Skelton 15; Mrs E. Hay and C. Gunn 15, beat Miss Keller and Weir 10.
