INVERCARGILL’S LIST. [FEB PRESS ASSOCIATION.] INVERCARGILL, August 13The Supreme Court opened before Mr Justice Kennedy, who remarked that all the criminal charges on the calendar were of a sexual nature. Referring to a case of unlawful use of an Instrument, the Judge said: Unfortunately there frequently appears to be in these cases, neglect of ordinary cleanliness and proper precautions, which leads to septicaemia, with results that the unfortunate woman operated on either dies or is the victim of a very grave illness. The law was no doubt framed for other purposes, but its enforcement may protect poor women and prevent them from trusting their lives with calamitous results to those who are serving them, for their money and not through humanity. True bills were returned In all the cases.
GISBORNE SESSIONS. GISBORNE, August 13. Supreme Court opened before Mr. Justice Reed this morning, with the first criminal cases for trial for more than a year, true bills being returned against Albert Paraniki. Kohuru. charged with breaking, entering and theft at Tikiliki. and Ernest v ivian Walters, charged with breaking ami entering the Harbour Board good-; shed and stealing a quantity of brandy and cigarettes.
