As the result of the loss of the Government subsidy in June, and the uncertain position engendered by the copyright claims of the gramophone record companies, the proprietors, G. S. Anchor and Company, decided to cease transmission this morning. Although the step had been threatened for some weeks the decision when announced by the station director, Mr. G. S. Anchor, this morning, came as a surprise to hundreds of listeners throughout the Waikato.
