MILLERTON DEFAULT

The W.F.A. in whose hands the control of the S.I. Chatham Cup final had been placed by the N.Z.F.A. decided that the replay between Western A and Millerton All Blacks should, take place at Cobden on Sunday. The All Blacks objected to this arrangement, and refused to take the field, on Sunday, stating that injuries among players prevented it, though they had a full eleven at the close of Saturday’s match. The Chatham Cup rule governing the position, states that, in the event ofc.a re-play being necessary, it shall take place on the Monday following the draw, unless the N.Z. Council decide otherwise. The decision in the matter was left to the Westland Football Association, who decided that the replay should take place at Cobden yesterday. Western A had notified the Association prior to the match that they could not remain over Monday. , As Millerton refused to play yesterday, Western A win by default. It is understood the ‘Millerton Club is appealing to the New Zealand Football Association, against the decision of the Westland Football Association.
