Miss C. M. McLay, Youth Organiser for the Women’s Christian Temperance Union, has postponed all her en- ' gagements, owing to illness.

Mr. C. Fraser, President of the Greymouth Waterside Workers’ Union, will leave to-morrow, for Wellington, to attend a meeting of the National Disputes Committee.

Mr. J. Garth, who has been undergoing special treatment in Christchurch. for a football injury, returned, to Greymouth, on Saturday. He is making good progress.

Mr. H. E. Jarman has been appointed General, Manager of the Christchurch Tramways, in succession to Mr. Frank Thompson, who resigned five months ago. Mr. Jarman was formerly accountant to the Board'. —Press Assn.

Major C. W. Free, of the Indian •Army, who is on furlough in New Zealand, left, tills, morning, for Christchurch. Major Free is a native of Reefton, where his father practised Jaw for many years. While in Greymouth, Major Free was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Kitchinghara.

A London cablegram stated that Vice-Admiral Sir Charles Little’will succeed Vice-Admiral Dreyer as Comma nder-in-Chief of the China station in January. Vice-Admiral William James will succeed Vice-Admiral Little as Deputy Chief of the Naval Station.

Sealy were chosen to-day, as the Auckland University College’s nominees for Rhodes Scholarships in 1936. Mr. Lewis, who graduated B.A. this year, is president of the Students’ Association and a prominent athlete. Mr. Sealy aged 22, graduated M.Sc. with firstciass honours last year, and is also proficient in music and sports. His activities cover a wide field. —Press Assn.

The wedding was celebrated this morning, at St. Patrick’s Church, of Elizabeth Marie, daughter of Mr and Mrs George Brady, Ten Mile, and John, son of Mr and Mrs John Doyle, of Rapahoe. Rev. Father T. McKeon performed the ceremony, and also celebrated Nuptial Mass. Miss Moira Murphy attended the bride as bridesmaid. and Mr William Page was best man. A reception was held at Herb. Moore’s.
