During, .the recent ( bad sea weather, the Greymouth .bar rias shoaled about four feet, giving a depth at low of .pnly about 10 feet, : apd .at, tiigh water yesterday, the sounding showed only 17ft. lOins., .compared .with.,22ft. 4 iris. on. the previous ; day. Kartigi was ready for sea yesterday,-but as she was drawing seven: inches more than the,, high-water, depth of. the, bar, she is being lightened to/the,.extent of two feet;. .The „tides are springs reaching their peak about ,the middle of.next week,, but if the, dep th of the .bar does not improve over the week-end, there will be delay in clearing the James Cook Kanna, and Karepo. Kartigi, after lightening her. freight by.approximately 500 tpris of coal.and timber, to effect, a-.safe clearance, of the bar,, is. scheduled. to sail at .7 o’clock to-iriorrow riiorriing for Miramar, Wellington, Auckland and Portland. ~ , J ' V ' . . /Kaimiro, which was to load,here for Auckland, has had her call cancelled. Karepo now sails about Tuesday Jor Melbourne and Adelaide. Kanna arrived at 4.30 p.m, yesterday from Westport. Kiwitea leaves Gisborne on Monday afternoon for Greymouth to load for Auckland and Portland. Kaimai is due Friday to load for Wellington and Miramar. Port Waikato is due about August 23 to load a -full cargo of timber for Sydney and Newcastle. A U.S.S.’ Cq. steamer is due about August ,19 to load timber for Melbourne and Adelaide. *, .n; Kaitoa, which arrived last evening from Westport, sails Monday for Petone. .
