WAIPUKURAU, May 24. A petition has been lodged at the Magistrate’s Court to have declared void the recent poll fixing the statutory closing day for Waipukurau, when Wednesday as the weekly naif-iwimay was reaffirmed by 462 votes to 4a.>, with 19 informal votes. The petition will be the subject of a Magisterial inquiry, opening on June 1, and adjourning till June 6. Various irregularities are a * l6 against the Returning Officer as to the counting of the votes, and regarding the formality of votes, while company votes, also votes by proxy, are ,m question, and likewise the qualification of certain electors. It is content , also, that the full rights ot .scrutmeeis were disallowed.
