PERRY IN ENGLAND. [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] (Recd. April 27, 11 a.m.) LONDON, April 26. Fred Perry received a radiogram on the Berengaria, from the Tennis Association, urging him not to talk. Perry declared after his arrival in England: “I alone know why I turned down the professional offers which cannot yet be divulged. I owe all my loyalty to the Association, and am offering them my whole-hearted support to keep Britain on top in the tennis world.”
He declined to say whether he is still engaged to Mary Lawson, and announced that he would partner Miss Round in the Wimbledon mixed title matches. “CUP” PREDICTION. NEW YORK, April 25. Norman Brooks, on arrival here, said that Australia would win the Davis Cup with men like Crawford and McGrath. Crawford was playing the best tennis of his career.
