A man named Fishwick, aged 32 years, a miner was found on the roadside in Hurham, shot in the back. He alleged that a man.in a motor-car had attacked and robbed him. Fishwick’s life was despaired of at the hospital, but he recovered, and was immediately arrested and charged with being a public nuisance. The police stated that, Fighwick’s story was a tissue of lies, told apparently for the sake of notoriety. The police inquiries have cost several hundred pounds. . ...
