Anxiety regarding the safety of Wuliu and other important centres along the River Yangtze, following on Communist depredations in Southern Anhwei, is now dispelled. Supported by aeroplanes, Government troops are reported to have successfully driven the biggest. Communist force, consisting of fifty thousand, towards the mountainous regions, thus removing the immediate threat to Wuhu. There are still no reassuring reports regarding the safety of the two captive missionaries, Hayman (Australian) and Bosshardt (Swiss), who were captured in Hunan on October 9.
