MAGIC CABINET
GROWING CROPS IN TEN DAYS. Green crops can be grown in 10 days without the aid of artificial light, sunshine, soil, and lain, according to V. Dashwood and F. Hedinger, two English inventors, who announce their discovery of a method which is designed to make the farmer free from worry during long droughts. After 17 years of rese-.irch. those two inventors recently .concluded their final experiments which were conducted in the- utmost secrecy in an old bain on flic cast coast of England. The invention is in the form of a cabinet which contains 10 shelves, each shelf holding enough fodder to feed 20 cows each day. For every pound of maize, five pounds of fodder is produced with the now invention. Peas can be grown full in four weeks. The inventors are now perfecting a device which will enable every housewife to grow fresh vegetables
■ in her own home. On the farm where ’ the experiments were made, two herds of cows have been used. One herd has been fed in the normal manner and the other with the green fodder from cabinet process. The result lias [ proved that the cows being fed on the . I “cabinet” fodder are fatter and their [milk richer. Two sets of pigs have also been used in the experiments, the result I is similar to that of the cows. ( This drought-proof crop-grower can also be used on cricken farms to provide fresh food for poultry. Since the crop-grower consists of a cabinet arrangement of shelves, additions easily can be added to it to meet the greater demands for fresh food for the increasing number of livestock. Thus it is adaptable to the use of the man who keeps a few liens in his back yard or to the farmer whose livestock is numbered by the hundreds.
