Signor Cianetti, the head of the Fascist Workers’ Federation, says:— “The forty-four hour week has been so successful that it is likely to be permanently adopted in Italy. It has given employment to one hundred and six thousand unemployed people.” He expressed the opinion that it will, ultimately, provide work for Italy’s one million unemployed people. DIAMONDS BARRED. ROME, December 26. The importation of diamonds into Italy has been forbidden. DISPUTE WITH ABYSSINIA. GENEVA, December 26. An Abyssinian note, declaring the situation is increasingly serious, alleges that the Italians are advancing into Abyssinian territory, building,a. road towards Adou Gerlogubi, over which Italian planes carried out a. . reconnaissance, apparently as a prelude to a further attack. They also occupied Afdub. ROME, December 26. Officials deny that the Italians have advanced, and point out that Afdub has been under Italian control for years. They declare- that the reconnaissance flights were necessitated by the massing of Abyssinians. They also deny the intention of taking the initiative. Italy is ready to settle the boundary question when the demand for reparations for the Ualual incident is fulfilled.
