Burglars last night entered the north end store of Milligan and Bond’s, grocers They removed a cash register by a side alley and stole £5. They badly damaged the register, which is worth £BO. Fortunately, the firm had banked the days takings, in the afternoon. DELUGE AT GISBORNE. GISBORNE, December 24. A tropical deluge was experienced in Gisborne late on Saturday afternoon. It was one of the severest ever known. Nearly two inches of rain fell within an hour and a-half, practically all coming down within the first half hour. The downpour was confined almost entirely to the town and a small fringe outside the borough area. Two aeroplanes arrived from the south during the height of the storm, and had to fly very low on account of bad visibility.
