IMPORTANT ARRESTS. [by CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.) MOSCOW, December 22. Although it has not been admitted officially, it is a fact that M. Zinoviev has been arrested, together with thirteen of his former Opposition Party, and they have been handed over to the Supreme Court. This action follows on the trial of Nicolaev for the murder of Kirov. It is expected that Zinoviev and all the others will be sentenced to death within 24 hours. A prominent member of the Soviet, M. Syrokov, is reported to have been arrested with M. Zinoviev and M. Kemenev. An official statement declares: It is established that Nicolaev received his commission to murder Kirov from a terrorist underground group, called the Leningrad Centre Group. The Government declare that letters from M. Zinoviev were found in the pocket of M. Medvediev, the »head of the Leningrad 0.G.P.U., when the. latter was, shot, and these letters implicate M. Zinoviev. LATER. It is officially stated that Zinoviev, Kamenav, Sharov, Kuklin and eleven others were arrested in connection with the murder of Kirov. There was insufficient evidence to justify the trial of Zinoviev and Kamenav and five others, but they will be handed over to a special tribunal, which will consider “Administrative exile.” The cases of the remainder, including Sharov and Kuklin, are being investigated.
