This year- Mr McKay has brought from Sydney a combination of international artists, which the press, and public of Auckland claim is the best seen in New Zealand for many years. After the conclusion of the Auckland run of 18 performances our city was included in the itinerary, the opening date being Tuesday, January 1, at the Town Hall. Exactly the same show that the northern city so loudly acclaimed is to be brought here, the initial production being “Hello, Everybody.’ Tn a company of such talent and variety it is difficult to individualise, but perhaps special mention may be made of Trampo, whose hobby is sleeping on clothes’ lines; the Alexanders, marvellous hand balancers; the Yodelling Newtons, who sing of the joys of Swiss mountaineering; Lee and Z. Barrie, Parisian dancers; Ivey Ivel, daintiest of contortionists; the Grecians, in beautiful statuary posing; the three Alecs, French Clowns; and Fred Argyle, Dickens impersonator, Frank Perrin, English comedian, Ted Stanley, diminutive Australian comic, Nell Fleming, charming American comedienne, and Dorothy Arnold, are the principal fun makers, taking part in the many snappy sketches. Singing is featured by Victor Burke, Irish tenor, Rae Foster, soprano, and Cecil Perry, baritone, their work in the many delightful song scenas being very fine. The Sun Kissed Australian Ballet, May Brooke’s Orchestra, the brilliant lighting, gorgeous dressing, and up-to-date staging add considerably to the enjoyment of the productions. The plan opens at Kilgour’s on Thursday next.
