Mr Charles Kirk, retiring secretary of the Canterbury Education Board, was the recipient of two presentations. The staff of the Board’s office and th© inspectors presented him with a handsome secretaire, and the Westland teachers with a gold watch. The staff’s presentation was made by Mr L. E. Rowley, who with Messrs H. C. Lane, A. M’Neil. W. Brock and J. C. Polson, referred to the genial efficiency with which Mr z Kirk had carried on his work and wished him happiness in his retirement. On behalf of the women members of the staff Miss M. Scott presented -a bouquet to Mrs Kirk. Mr C. G. Warren, president of the Westland branch of the Teachers’ Institute, made the presentation on behalf of the teachers. Mr Kirk thanked them for their kindness.
