CHURCH MUSIC FOR “RUMBA”
*fl*» PRIEST-COMPOSER’S SUIT. PARIS, November 1. A curious case concerning the adaptation of serious music to the purposes of th'e ball-room is about to be heard here.
The Abbe Brun, who is vicar of a Parisian parish, is demanding damages from an impresario because a piece of religious music- pari of a mass which the Abbe had composed—was transformed into a “rumba, for tlie benefit of a Peruvian dancer. The priest, who has composed many religious pieces, has been particularly annoyed because the programme announced that the “rumba had been adapted from his mass.
