Jack Thompson, of Youngstown, Ohio, a professional, assumed first place with 132. ATHLETICS. AUCKLAND, December 20. Auckland selectors have nominated the following athletes for inclusion in the New Zealand team to compete at the Melbourne Centenary meeting: — P. J. Hackett, High Jump; A. J. Elliot, 100yds and 220yds; W. S. Bainbridge, 220yds and 440yds: E. Kedgley, 440yds and SSOyds; A. R. Wilson, SSCyds and one mile; 11. K. Brainsby, long and hop, step and jump. SURF CLUB MEETING. A meeting of the Greymouth Surf Life Saving Club was held last evening, Mr. J. B. Kent presiding. The custodian, club captain and vice-cap-tain were appointed to supervise the placing of the safety flags on the beach, the secretary (Mr. T. Lawry) being empowered to purchase new flags. It was decided that honorary members’ subscriptions be 2/6, that the present junior members of the Club be given a badge, and that the subscription be 2/6 for. last year’s juniors. It was decided that all old badges be called in, to be issued to the incoming junior members. A resolution of confidence in the custodian, Mr. F. W. Gilbert, was passed.
