“HEAT WAVE” EXPERIENCED. [BY CABLE—PRESS ASSN.—COPYRIGHT.] LITTLE AMERICA, December 18. A heait w r ave struck Little America to-day. The temperature reached to 37 degrees above zero. An unseasonable thaw has started the ice in the Bay of Whales moving seaward. The seals are vanishing deeper into the ice' pack, in order to avoid the killer whales, which roam the cold waters in packs. According to a wireless report from the camp, the tractor and sledging parties met on December 16, on a plateau 150 miles to the eastward, and are proceeding to camp together.
