YUGO-SLAV CRISIS
CABINET RESIGNATION PRINCE REGENT'S EFFORT [by cable—press assn.—copyright.] BELGRADE,- December 19. The Yugo-Slavian Government has resigned. Prince Paul is attempting to form a broader-based Government, including Opposition leaders. It is regarded as significant that Prince Paul’s first action was to summon a consultation with M. Stanoyevitch, a veteran leader of the Serbian Radicals, who has been an opponent of the Royal dictatorship, and also Father Koroshetz, the Slovene leader, who until recently has been interned. These, and other circumstances confirm Prince Paul’s known intention, at the first opportunity, to secure the formation of a Government on a broader basis. If accomplished, this will, possibly, lead to an easing of the internal situation by a liberal attitude towards the Croats, besides a more peaceful attitude towards Hungary and better relations with Italy.
DEPORTATIONS RUGBY, December 19. Sir J. Simon stated in reply to a Commons question, that mass expulsions of Hungarian refugees from Yugo-Slavia had ceased more than a week ago, and though a limited number of deportations would seem to have taken place since, for reasons which cannot be stated with certainty, the majority of them were the result or normal application of the Jugoslav alien regulations. MARSEILLES TRIAL. (Received December 20,11.30 a.m.) MARSEILLES, December 19. Queen Marie, King Alexander’s widow, has constituted herself a. civil party in the prosecution of the trio charged with complicity in the assassination. The trial will probably be in March. Her counsel is ex-Premier Paul Boncour.
