THUNDER, HAIL AND FIREBALLS. [BY CABLE —PEESS ASSN. —COPYBIGHT.] SYDNEY, December 19. The coastal areas of New South Wales are experiencing stormy and unsettled weather. There was a series of thunderstorms in Sydney Metropolitan areas to-day, with fireballs at Ryde and Elizabeth Bay. Extensive damage was done by large hailstones at Roseville, Chatswood and Hornsby. The electric trains were disorganised. LATER. Reports arriving from the northern suburbs indicate widespread damage to house-property by hailstones as large as golf balls, breaking tiles on roofs, piercing iron sheds, smashing windows, and stripping orchards. In the Carlingford district, where many thousands of cases of ripening stone fruit were lost, almost ruining small growers, hail was piled high against fences and gardens.
