RUNANGA NOTES

[our own correspondent.] The Runanga Girls’ Club met last evening in the Presbyterian Church ball to bid farewell to one of its members, Miss Madge Smitheram, who is leaving shortly for South Africa. An enjoyable evening was spent in games and competitions, Miss Boddy proving herself to be able to In a farmer's wife by placing the pig’s tail in its correct position. The competition “Jumbled Cars,” was won by" Miss Madge Tyson, and the- “Telegram.” competition by Miss Elsie Finch. After supper, Miss DaVlson (secretary), c-n behalf of the club, expressed regret at losing another popular member. In presenting her with a greenstone and silver spoon with a Maori tiki engraved thereon, she said she hoped Miss Smitheram would not altogether forget New Zealand and the Girls’ Club, and wished her the best of luck. Miss Smitheram, in reply thanked the club for their gift, stating she would be proud to shew such an appropriate gift from Now' Zealand in Africa, and she would always remep.ber the Girls’ Club. The evening closed with the singing of ; “For She’s Jolly Good Fellow.” Miss A. Southward returned to-day, from a visit to Blackball.
