“HEART OF STONE”
SURGEON’S EVIDENCE. A Hurley Street surgeon told (he Wembley coroner recently that a road worker on whom he had performed a post-mortem examination had the most remarkable heart he had ever seen. Dr Temple Grey, the surgeon, said the heart was so calcified that it had almost turned to stone. It was remarkable that the man had been able to live so long. The inquest was on Arthur Obadiah Hudson, aged 62, of Cromwell Road, Wembley. His widow said her husband was convalescing from aii illness. She heard a noise, and on going upstairs found he had swallowed carbolic acid. A verdict of “Suicide while of unsound mind” was returned.
