In the presence of three hundred people, including dealers hoping -to make separate purchases, 318 of Napoleon’s unpublished love letters to Marie Louise, from 1810 to 1814, dealing with his courtship and marriage, the Russian campaign, the defeat at Leipzig, and his exile to Elba, were sold.'in one lot, for £15,000, at Sotheby’s, to Mr Maggs, on behalf of the French Government. The owner was an anonymous nobleman.
