United strengthened their position as leaders in the competition, by collecting three points at the expense of Camerons. THREE POINTS TO MARIST A. Marist A secured a rhree-point win over Kumara on the No. 1 wicket at the Recreation ground. The wicket and ground were .hard and fast. MARIST B DEFEAT* BRUNNER. Marist B and Brunner played anexciting game at Taylorville yesterday, the former taking a three-point win, with only seven minutes to go. and with Brunner requiring only nine runs for an outright win. Marist put on 138 in their first strike (L. Casey 60, J. Morris 36). Hoggarth was the most successful Brunner bowler, taking four wickets for 33. Brunner were all out for 72, Greenwood 6 for 31, and Cornish 4 for 27, bowling unchanged. Marist declared wuth 42 for 3 wickets in their second innings, and Brunner chased the runs. Splendid bowling by Greenwood., who secured 5 for 25 (including the iiat trick), and L. Casey 2 for 10, saved the game for Marist, who looked like going under. H. BRADMAN’S RETURN. LONDON, December 16. Don Bradman and his wife have left for Paris. They are paying a brief visit to Switzerland and will spend Christmas in the Riviera. They are embarking on the Otranto at Toulon for Australia on December 28. Bradman said he would not be playing cricket, even in the mildest foim, until next season.
