NEW LINER LAUNCHED. r‘ \ * 4 — [by CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] — LONDON, December 14. “The Times’s” Berlin correspondent says: The North German Lloyd steamer Scharnhorst, of 18,000 tons, Germany’s largest liner since the “Europa” and the “Bremen,” was launched at Deschimag dockyard, in Bremen, in die presence of Herr Hitler and a great patriotic ceremony was held. She commemorates the warship “Scharnhorst” which was sunk in the Falkland- Islands battle. The warship Gneisenau which was similarly lost, will be commemorated by a vessel that is now being built. CROSSING TRAGEDY. BERLIN, December 14. • Thirteen were killed and seven were injured when an express conveying Hitler to Berlin, after the launching of the Scharnhorst, collided with a motor bus. which crashed through the gates of a Kirchlintolm level crossing during a dense fog. The motor bus contained theatricals. It was hurled into the air, and was completely wrecked. The occupants were thrown in all directions. The engine driver brought the train to a standstill, and a doctor who was on board directed first aid, pending the arrival of ambulances. Herr Hitler personally headed the train passengers in the rescue work. -
