Some people prefer cold to warm climates, but Admiral Byrd’s decision to spend a winter as close to the South Pole as is humanly possible is an adventure few people will envy. However, there is merit in coolness where some things are concerned. Coolness gives virtue to a refrigerator, and coolness allows New Zealand apples and meat and butter to reach the British market in perfect condition. Coolness is also a virtue in smoking tobacco, such as in those excellent brands: Red Shield (Dark) and Blue Shield (Medium). You get a cool smoke with both because they are specially toasted to fully develop their best qualities. The result is New Zealand tobaccos at their best—cool, smooth, satisfying. Red, Shield (Dark) and Blue Shield (Medium) are obtainable in twoounce tins (1/7) and in attractive one pound canisters —a splendid packing for the home and even more economical in price. 50
