CYCLIST’S INJURIES
DAMAGES CLAIM FAILS. [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, November 16. An accident in the Hataitai traffic tunnel, when a lad of seventeen bicycling home, was severely injured in a collision with a motor-car, was the subject of an action for damages brought before a common jury at the Wellington Supreme Court, today. The Chief Justice was on the Bench. £905/11/6 damages was unsuccessfully claimed by Patrick Whitman, through his father. J. E. Whitman, relief worker, from Ivan Edward Rjiwnsley, motor dealer, Lower Hutt. The accident occurred about seven months ago. The boy was cycling through the tunnel, when a motorhorn sounded behind and a car collided with him. The rider’s thigh was broken and a leg permanently shortened.
The jury found there was no negligence on defendant’s part.
