U.S.A. AND DAVIS CUP. . [by CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] NEW YORK, November 14. The defection of Lott and Stoefen from the amateur to the professional ranks has not upset the United States Davis Cup plans, or weakened the confidence of Mr Walter Merril Hall, President of the Lawn Tennis Association, in the country’s chances of giving England a brisk challenge. He said: “For the singles, we’ve a pair of ’seasoned, reliable internationalists in Allison and Wood. It’S pretty early to forecast what will happen in June hext, but for the doubles there’s Donald Budge and Gene Mako, of the Pacific Coast. This pair,, I’d say, show promise of surpassing the greatness of Lott and Etoefen as a team.” COAST CHAMPIONSHIPS. A meeting of the West Coast Lawn Tennis Association was held on Wednesday evening, when it was decided 'that the championships, this year, be held on four days instead of three, as formerly, and that application be made for February 20, 21, 22 and 23, as the championship dates.
