“CRAFTSMAN” LIGHTS
ALLEGED FRAUDS [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, November 16. The hearing of the fraud charges alleged against C. E. Vickers and E. M. Gilmour, in connection with the activities relating to the Craftsman- Manufacturing Company, continued to-day. A statement that the Railway Department never had negotiations with the Craftsman Company, and that the company’s train-lamps had never been tried on the railways, was made by Percy Roj' Angus, Locomotive Superintendent of New' Zealand Railways. The Harbour Board electrician said he had inspected the company’s floodlights in 1930 and decided they were unsuitable. George Lauchlan. assistant general manager of the Wellington Electricity Department, said he inspected the Craftsman light in 1930, but did not negotiate with the company for lights. Similar evidence was given by the assistant mechanical engineer 6f the Railway Department. The Secretary of Wellington Speedways, Ltd., denied that his company ever did business with Craftsman Coy.
The case was adjourned till Mnoday.
