CREVASSES HINDER PROGRESS. [by CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] LITTLE AMERICA, November 13. The tractor party which is exploring the heart of the Ross Sea ice barrier have reported that they experienced considerable difficulty in breaking through the crevasse area south Qf latitude 81. Their objective is to determine if a sea level depression connects Ross Sea and Weddell Sea
at a position not far eastward and southward from where the party now is. One of the two tractors w„as almost wrecked. It dropped into a blind six-foot deep crevasse, but the crew were able to salvage it. Meanwhile, Siples’ Marie Byrd Land sledging party are encountering blizzards and poor visibility in their effort to make their way from Mount Grace McKinley to the coast
