Mr and Mrs H. L. Jamieson returned, to-day, to Christchurch. Miss A. Burnett left this morning, on return to Auckland. Miss Jean Hambleton left by this morning’s express on a visit to Christchurch. v Miss Ella Robertson left to-day, on a visit to Christchurch. Miss K, Greaney will return this afternoon, from a visit to Auckland. Miss A. Bush will return, this afternoon, from Christchurch. Miss C. Freeman-Brown has returned from a visit to Wellington. Mrs. H. F. Doogan (Wellington) and Mrs.'J. J. Connor (Omapere, H. 8.), will arrive this afternoon. Mr and Mrs E?McDonnell, and Mr and Mrs H. D. James returned yesterday, from Christchurch. Mrs K. O’Brien was a passenger by this morning’s express to Christchurch. Mr and Mrs rTe. Groom, Senr., will return from Christchurch by this afternoon’s express. Mrs C. Kingsford left to-day on return to Christchurch, after visiting Mr and Mrs J. H. Clark, Buecleugh Street. Guests at Revington’s include: — Mr. J. H. Harkness, Mr. A. W. Stevens (Westport); Mr. R. Bradley (Auckland). The funeral of the late John Joseph McDonald took place this morning, at Karoro Cemetery. The service was conducted by Rev. Father Holohan, who also celebrated Requiem Mass at St. Patrick’s Church. A Sydney cablegram stated that Mr. Andrew William Sneddon had been appointed general manager (of the Australian Mutual Provident. Society in succession to Mr. A. C. Hollinworth, retired. A Lucknow cablegram announced the death of Mr Frederick Lincoln, the last survivor in India, of the siege of Lucknow. He will be buried in the Residency cemetery, which is reserved for Mutiny survivors.

A pleasant evening was spent at the home of Mr and Mrs G. M. Truman on Wednesday, when the staff of Truman’s entertained. Miss Mavis Cameron and Mr Gibb Beynon with a linen evening. The time was spent in games and competitions. A-tei supper, Mrs James presented the basket of linen to Miss Cameron, on behalf of the staff. Miss Cameron and Mr Beynon thanked the staff for then kind gifts and good wishes. Mr Truman spoke of Miss Cameron’s splendid services and extended, on behalf of the firm best wishes to Miss Cameron and Mr Beynon.

The wedding took place, last evening, at Holy Trinity. Church, Greymouth, of Vera. Ethel, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Thomas, Omoto Road, to George Richard, eldest son of Mr and Mrs G. Groom, Franklin Street. Archdeacon Jermyn officiated. The bride, who was given away by her uncle, was attended by her cousin, Miss Eileen O’Hara, as bridesmaid. Mr William Groom, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. The reception was held m Perotti Hall. The newly-married couple left this morning by the express for Christchurch.
