WEATHER FORECAST. General inference: An anti-cyclone is centred north-east of the North Island, and a rather vigorous westerly depression is approaching the South Island from the Tasman Sea. Forecast: Strong north to northwest winds, changing to south-west after about six hours. Weather unsettled, with some rain, and heavy falls in the ranges. Temperatures mild. Seas rough.
