ELLSWORTH’S DEPARTURE. [PER press association.] DUNEDIN, September 13. Mr Lincoln Elsworth, who arrived at Dunedin by aeroplane from Christchurch to-day, said that it was hoped that the steamdr Wyatt Earp would be able to leave here on Monday, and it would head direct lor Deception Island, which it was hoped to reach at the beginning of November. Messrs Ellsworth and Bernt Balchen would take off on their flight across the Antarctic Continent as soon as the weather permitted. He expected to be back in Dunedin early in January. BYRD EXPEDITION WELLINGTON, September 13. A party of seven intends to leave tomorrow night for Dunedin, in Admiral R. E. Byrd’s launch, Edsel Ford, which has been laid up in the boat harbour since the explorer went south. The seafarers, are Guy Tapley, Capt. B. Johansen, Chief Engineer Victor Niewoehner, R. Miller and A. Miller. Tapley is a son of the late H. Livingstone Tapley. Mayor of Dunedin, arid brother of Colin Tapley, who is at present acting for the films at Hollywood. Capt. Johansen and Niewoehner, both of the Bear of Oakland, are members of the Byrd Antarctic expedition. ARCTIC INVESTIGATORS. RUGBY, September 13. A message from Arigmagsalik to the Greenland Board at Copenhagen, states that the British Lindsay Arctic expedition, following the safe ending of their perilous 1000 miles journey over inland ice, is expected to embark for home on September 18, on the British trader Jacinth, which has been fishing in the adjacent seas.
