ROAD VICTIMS

BRITAIN’S RECORD TOTAL. [BY OABLI —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] LONDON. July 13. The “Daily Mail” says: Britain’s road fatalities last week totalled 180. This is a record, and an increase of 41, and 47 respectively on the previous weeks. The injured totalled 5,776 compared with 4,961 in the previous week. The increase in accidents, strangely. coincides with more intense activity for the safeguarding of pedestrians by traffic lights, and painted safety lanes. It was possible, also, that the heat wave had caused motorists to suffer from lassitude, and affected their keenness of vision. '
